Author, Dick Durance II, was raised in Aspen, Colorado and both of his parents were professional photographers. This gave him a chance to start early, seeing the world through the camera's lens. While loving to ski and golf, he obviously developed a wonderful talent of telling the stories of life with fantastic photos. This is great coffee table book, as every time you pick it up you will enjoy yourself.

In The Spirit of Hope Book - Signed by Dick Durrance II

Dick Durrance was raised in Aspen, Colorado, and began his photography career on a trip to Danube while attending Dartmouth College in 1964. His photos from that trip became the cover story for the July 1965 issue of National Geographic. Thus began a 58-year career in professional photography spanning many fields. Over six decades, Dick has worked as a U.S. Army combat photographer in Vietnam; a staff photographer at National Geographic Magazine; a corporate photographer; and as a landscape photographer, first shooting personal black-and-white photographs and then National Parks.

Dick has won numerous awards for his photography, including Military Pictures of the Year: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, from the National Press Photographers Association in 1968; Magazine Photographer of the Year from the White House News Photographers Association in 1972; and Advertising Photographer of the Year from the American Society of Media Photographers in 1987. Dick currently lives in Carbondale, Colorado, with his wife, Susan Drinker.
