Lionshead Vail 1960's Original Ski Lodge PosterVail opened in 1962. With it being one of the larger ski areas that was close to Denver, it quickly became very popular. Pete Siebert, one of the founders and 10th Mountain Division veteran, was the figure head that successfully led Vail into the modern area of commercial ski areas.
