Just four miles from the United States-Canada border, Jay Peak is a Vermont gem, receiving more snowfall than any other ski area in the Northeastern U.S. It opened in 1957 after its first ski school director, Walter Foeger, carved the trails into the mountain himself and developed a unique method of teaching skiing that gave the ski area a name for itself.
