This 1973 poster shows famous rock climber, Leo Scheiblehner, hanging from a rock wall ledge. The rugged mountain ridge is most likely in the Mount Hood area. That is where Leo did a lot of climbing. The Mount Hood Climber's Guide, reported: "some veteran climbers, including Fred Beckey, the renowned alpinist who, along with Leo Scheiblehner, was the first to climb Hood’s notorious Yocum Ridge."
A friend named Nathan, saw this photo and gave us the info about what we were looking at. He also reported:
"I worked for Leo who was part owner & operator of the Alpine Inn at Crystal Mountain ski area, WA in the early 1990s. Leo was a famous Austrian mountaineer and this photo sat above the employee meal table in the back of the restaurant. Leo showed me an Austrian magazine that had this photo in it and alongside an article about him with that magazine photo. Leo has first ascents in Austria and in the USA with Fred Beckey."
If you enjoy rock climbing, this could be a cool historical piece to hang on your wall, as the amazing climber, Leo is also sporting classic 70s attire & equipment. Size: 21 x 30 inches.
