Description

These snowshoes were made in Camden, New York by Bentley Wilson for the famed 10th Mountain Division during WWII. This model was made for the US troops to travel long distances in the snow. The soldiers would wear a 'mukluk' type of warm boot and then place some type of skin or leather in-between their boot and the 'racket' to prevent wear and tear on their boots.

As Bentley Wilson was already making the 'rackets' for the snowshoes, during WWII, in Dec of 1947 they registered for their trademark to start manufacturing tennis and badminton rackets. This became their profitable post war product.

This is a nice pair of old wooden snowshoes, which is ideal for decorating or collecting.

Size - 10 x 58 inches.
