With the self-proclaimed "best skiing and snowboarding in New Mexico", Taos is an independent resort in northern New Mexico. For many years, the famed German/Swiss skier Ernie Blake was the ambassador of Taos, and he was its original founder in 1955 along with his wife Rhoda. It has been independently owned since its inception, and was purchased by billionaire Louis Bacon in 2013.
