The story of Sun Valley is an interesting one: in the mid-1930s, W. Averell Harriman, who would be the resort's developer, enlisted the help of Austrian sportsman Count Felix von Schaffgotsch to look across the United States for an ideal place to start a mountain resort. In 1936, Schaffgotsch was out West and close to the end of his trip (he was about to give up, actually) when he decided he would look into a random tip he had received: a railroad employee had told him that the rail spur to Ketchum, Idaho had cost the U.P. more money for snow removal than any other place in the country. When he arrived in Ketchum to explore, he found Bald Mountain and decided it was perfect.

This patch uses great colors and features a pretty edelweiss flower at its center, a classic symbol of mountaineering.
