The rooster has (unofficially) been a symbol of France since at least the Middle Ages, and in the past many ski manufacturers such as Rossignol and Lacroix have used the Gallic rooster iconography on their skis to give their products some French spirit. If you've ridden on French skis before, you may recognize the symbol on this patch!
