Description   In photographer Matt Power's words: 'The photo was taken on 2/17/95, my first winter in Colorado after growing up in Massachusetts. We got a foot a day for seven days with high winds. After the storm the sun came out, I took the gondola up Aspen Mtn. When I got off I saw about ten ski patrol looking toward Highland Bowl. I pulled out my camera and the Highlands patrol used the avalauncher to shoot one 2- pound charge into the top left side of the bowl. The blast set off the entire bowl and it slid 4,000 vertical feet all the way to the Castle Creek Road!! The bowl was leeward in the storm so high winds blew in tons of snow. The fracture line at the top right measured over 25 feet high! Now the bowl is open to skiing and regularly controlled for avalanche safety. It is unlikely that a slide of this size will ever happen again.'   Features Fine-art print is made from 4x5 film and shows incredible detail.
