Description   Andrea Mead Lawrence, American's top woman downhill skier, or as she was called 'top woman ski speedster' became the 1st winner of the Sixth Winter Olympic Games. She also still holds the title of being the ONLY American woman to have two Gold Medals for Alpine Skiing in a single Olympic Game. These games opened at Norefjell, Norway on Feb. 14, 1952. The Games are commonly thought of as the Oslo Olympics.  Mrs. Lawrence was 19 years old at this time.  She won the Woman's Giant Slalom Championship by streaking down the course in 2 minutes and 6.8 seconds, to beat 44 competitors.
